A Certificate in Nursing Assistant course is a program that provides individuals with the knowledge and skills to provide basic patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The course typically takes 4 to 12 weeks to complete and includes both theoretical and practical components.
During the course, students learn about patient care, infection control, communication skills, and safety procedures. They also learn about the principles of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and medication administration.
The practical component of the course includes hands-on training in providing basic patient care, such as assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, and observing and reporting changes in a patient's condition. Students also learn how to maintain patient dignity and privacy, respond to emergencies, and work effectively in a healthcare team.
Upon completion of the course, graduates can work as nursing assistants in hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, and other healthcare settings. They may also choose to further their education by pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in nursing or another related field.
